Crazy For You has won another award, this time for Audience Favourite at the Horrorshow Hot Dog Short Film Festival. Look at that bling! That's the blingiest hotdog you'll ever see, I bet. Thank you to the lovely audience for voting for it, and to the festival itself for choosing it as part of their selection. The audience award is the best possible award as far as I'm concerned.

It'll go on the shelf next to the lovely Crystal Palace International Film Festival award for Best Horror/Sci-Fi, and the Fantasporto Best Screenplay award for Severance.

Thank you to the lovely folk at the festival, I was in excellent company and am really chuffed the audience enjoyed the short so much.James Moranhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11949906302217025023noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5184610432213843605.post-22014362686263133682016-02-18T11:43:00.000+00:002016-02-18T11:43:51.729+00:00Los Angeles Short Film FestivalCrazy For You is screening at the Los Angeles Short Film Festival, and has been nominated for their Best Screenplay award!

It screens on Saturday March 5th at 8pm, as part of the Comedy Program, tickets are $12 on the door, or $10 online. More details on the other shorts and awards here, and tickets are available from the same link. That's on my birthday, which makes it a lovely present for me.

The awards ceremony is on Sunday March 6th, at 4pm. Tickets for that are $20, or $15 online. I was hoping to get over for the screening and awards, but flights and timing didn’t work out, so I’ll have to cross my fingers from here.

The festival is in beautiful Santa Monica, so if you’re in the area and fancy seeing some great shorts, go and check it out. The other shorts sound great, it looks like a really cool festival.

The short is coming towards the end of its festival run now, and it's great to see how many festivals and awards it's collecting. When the last screenings have finished, it will enter the next stage of its life - I'm exploring a couple of avenues where everyone will be able to see it outside of festivals. Oh, go see my short too! It's not as gory but hey, isn't it time for some light romcom action in between all the horror?? Sure, he's a serial killer, but even serial killers need love.
I'm really sad to miss out on the festival, but producer extraordinaire Jen Handorf will be there, representing the short, so if you have ANY problems at all, go and tell her she's a horrible, horrible human being. Just tell her that anyway.* Hope you enjoy the short, and Fantastic Fest!

It's part of the Shorts 18: Thrillers block, and the whole block is 108 minutes, but I'm not sure whereabouts it is in there - if you're attending, you need to book for the whole block, so you'll see it anyway. The block costs £12, if you fancy going, and it's at the Vue Piccadilly (formerly the Apollo), on Lower Regent Street.

All of my work has played there so far, making that and FrightFest the only two festivals that have screened all of my film work. It's a great festival, run by lovely people, and I can't wait to hear what the audiences make of this short.

I can't make it over there this time, flights are too pricey to justify, and I have a script deadline at the end of this month, but producer extraordinaire Jen Handorf will be there to represent the short, and I *think* will be doing a q&a if there is one.

Screening dates and times will be announced soon, but the short is part of a selection called Short Fuse 2014, so that's the one you should keep an eye on.James Moranhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11949906302217025023noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5184610432213843605.post-35063636367215714972014-08-30T18:13:00.002+01:002014-08-30T18:13:50.634+01:00Catalina Film FestivalWe're winding down the festival tour, just a few left to announce, and then after that it'll go online. So if you're in the area, and want to see it on the big screen, please go along!James Moranhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11949906302217025023noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5184610432213843605.post-77061699905800206872014-04-30T17:58:00.000+01:002014-04-30T17:58:22.959+01:00TrailerThe trailer for the short has been on the Videos page for a while, but it deserves its own post - so here it is! It's very short, obviously, and doesn't give much away, it's just a little taste of the finished thing. Feel free to embed, share, etc:
Because it's been a long time between the Sponsume campaign and the packages going out (partly the lengthy post production, partly deadline hell on my end), your address might have changed since you signed up. I've emailed you all to let me know if it has, but am posting this just in case you miss the email. So let me know! If you're not sure, email anyway - crazyforyoumovie@gmail.com

If you're one of the Groundhog Day backers, email anyway, as the cast-signed scripts will be very difficult to replace if they get lost along the way.James Moranhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11949906302217025023noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5184610432213843605.post-11259963310899801782014-01-03T13:31:00.001+00:002014-01-03T13:31:44.445+00:00PosterCrazy For You now has a shiny new poster, with the latest festival laurels on there, and a tiny bit of blood. It'll have to be updated as it travels to new festivals, but right now, they all fit on there and look really nice. Don't forget it's screening at the London Short Film Festival at 9pm, January 10th at the ICA in London - details at this link.

Obviously as a short film it doesn't need a poster in the same way as a feature film, but it's mainly for festival screenings and to have a nice image to promote it online. So here it is! You can emclicken to embiggen:
It's part of the opening night strand called "Funny Shit". I'll be there! Want to come along? Here are all the details you need:

If you're UK-based, and missed the FrightFest and Grimmfest screenings, this is currently your best opportunity to see the short on the big screen. The Funny Shit strand is a 97 minute collection of shorts, which *starts* at 9pm, and I don't know what time mine will be on, so if you book, you'll need to attend the full event. But why wouldn't you? There'll be loads of great shorts there, mine will just be a surprise in there somewhere. Hopefully I'll see you there. Enjoy!

Screen Daily
"Narrowly taking the crown from Paul Davis’ darkly inventive The Body was James Moran’s sublime Crazy For You, both of which – incidentally – starred Hannah Tointon and both of which delivered on their premise. The former centres on a murderer who uses Halloween to transport his latest victim in plain sight, while the latter is a twisted rom-com about a serial killer who gets an unfortunate urge to kill whenever confronted with polka dots."

UK Horror Scene
"I was looking forward to Crazy For You immensely as I am a big fan of writer James Moran (Severance, Cockneys vs Zombies, Tower Block) . Crazy For You is his directorial debut and was wonderful. Charlie (Arthur Darvill) is a serial killer who falls madly in love with Jessica (Hannah Tointon). The trouble is that Charlie completely loses it when he sees polka dots (ever since he saw his father murdered) , and this is making dating Jessica very difficult. Should he tell her, keep it a secret or will it all come out in time?
Crazy For You was what I expected and even more. It has James Moran’s wicked dark sense of humour along with a stunning bright and vivid style that just lit up the entire theatre. A really great short film that shows what a great director James Moran will one day become. 9/10."
We'll have more festival news soon, so watch this space.
If you run a festival, or work for one, and think you should be screening the short too, please get in touch! It's on at 8.30pm, right after The Borderlands (which I also did some work on) - so come see that too.

Full details - and the entire festival lineup - are at this link here. If you're in or near Manchester and want to see the short, come along!James Moranhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11949906302217025023noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5184610432213843605.post-3442531285379584442013-07-22T13:34:00.001+01:002013-07-22T14:29:58.285+01:00Crazy For You world premiereWell, this is the big news we've been sitting on for a while - Crazy For You will have its world premiere at this year's FrightFest, my horror festival home where all of my other movies have premiered.

It'll be screening on Friday August 23rd at 4.15pm, in the main screen. You can find the details here, along with the other shorts that'll be playing - all of the shorts are attached to features, which means you'll have to get a ticket for Hatchet 3 to see mine. Single tickets are £12 again, but you should be getting a weekend pass or day passes anyway, because FrightFest is Horror Christmas.

I'm really excited and nervous, and hope it goes down well. First romantic comedy to play at a horror festival? Probably. First guest beaten to death at a horror festival? Possibly...

Backers at and above the appropriate level: don't worry, you'll still get to see it as soon as it's ready. We're just finalising various bits and pieces, but when it's all done, you'll get the Super Secret Link. Hang in there!James Moranhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11949906302217025023noreply@blogger.com0
